Baby is about 37cm long, weighs about 1.3kg and is growing rapidly. In most cases, he or she is on breech position , that is feet down and head up. He or she can sleep in the daytime and be up all night. That may also interfere with your sleep. Such agenda might not continue after birth, however. His or her eyes are open and baby is blinking them. Baby’s brain begins to regulate body temperature. Nerve cells continue to develop in the brain. Red blood cells are formed in the bone marrow now. Subcutaneous adipose tissue becomes thicker, and accounts for about three percent of the baby’s weight. Fat protects the child after birth, against sudden temperature change. Baby drinks, about half a liter of amniotic fluid a day and and pees it out again. Amniotic fluid is cleared regularly, so it does not cause any problems. The child is now able to feel pain.

Breathing is difficult, because the baby puts pressure on your internal organs. Rib cage can open slightly open to make more room for the child. Load on your back and feet is growing due to the increased weight. Weight gain is also reflected in the buttocks and abdomen. Keep a good posture. You may also notice that your feet are swollen.

  • Taking a breastfeeding class before you have your baby is a great idea!
  • You may get tired of being pregnant. This is normal during pregnancy. Try to think positive and visualize yourself as a mother. Feeling chronically bored and listless could be a symptom of depression, however.
  • In case of leg cramps, straighten your leg, heel first, and gently flex your toes back toward your shins, for quick relief. Taking a magnesium supplement in addition to a prenatal vitamin might help some women. Others sugest to eat plenty of calcium-rich (dairy products) and potassium-rich foods (eg. bananas).
  • Some sources recommend to sleep on the left side, as then allegedly the blood flow to your uterus and the baby’s oxygen supply are ideal. It is, however, best to sleep in a way, you feel most comfortable.
  • If you are working, start planning the pregnancy and maternity leave. Find out which regulations apply to your situation. In many countries You are entitled to receive various benefits. As you organize your leave, keep the paperwork in a special folder. Keep copies of everything, including any forms you submit.
